Accessibility Statement

We attach great importance to providing an equal service to the whole public, and work to make the site and app accessible in accordance with Israeli Standard 5568 and the WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines.

The accessibility menu

At the bottom-left corner of every page there is an accessibility button. Through it you can enlarge and reduce text, increase contrast, switch to a dyslexia-friendly font, highlight links, stop animations and enlarge the mouse cursor. The preference is saved in the browser and persists across pages.

It is important to say what such a menu is not: it does not by itself make a site accessible, and we do not rely on it as a substitute for accessibility in the code. It is an addition on top of the work described here.

What has been done on the site

• Full keyboard navigation, with a clear focus indicator on every element.
• A “skip to main content” link at the start of every page.
• A valid hierarchical heading structure, and ARIA attributes where required.
• Colour contrast is measured — every text-and-background combination in the site’s design language meets at least 4.5:1, and graphic elements at least 3:1. The check is re-run before every release, so a design change cannot reintroduce a problem that was already fixed.
• Touch targets of at least 44 pixels.
• Information is never conveyed by colour alone — certificate status, kashrut type and level are always shown in text as well.
• Alternative text for images, and decorative graphics hidden from screen readers.
• Respecting the system preference for reduced motion.
• The site adapts to any screen size, including text enlargement up to 200%.

Known limitations

• Some information in the database comes verbatim from the source and we cannot change it — for example business names with inconsistent spelling, or partial addresses.
• The map is inherently a visual element. Everything shown on it is also available as a full textual list, navigable by keyboard and readable by a screen reader.
• The site is under continuous development, and we do not claim full certified conformance. If you encounter an element that is not accessible — that is precisely why the next section exists.
